Finally, all the hard work has paid off! Jackie and Dolci got their first 65% Grand Prix score in California in September, and got the second score at the Ft Worth Dressage show a few weeks ago. The great thing is that each day we become quicker and more confirmed in the movements. Now with the pressure off, we are having fun and continuing to progress and perfect our performance. So many people have helped make this possible. First, I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband, who has always been supportive and understanding of my dreams, my drive, & my determination; encouraging me to go to Florida and California to train, and most of all for purchasing my fabulous horse, Dolomit. I have never had this kind of connection with any other horse. I owe so much to JJ Tate who I have worked with for 5 years and who really filled in all the gaps in my understanding and training; and to David Blake who with his frequent trips to TX has continued refining what JJ taught me and has really helped to keep us going forward. Anne Gribbons was very influential and I am constantly drawing on exercises we worked on in FL. My daughter, Sarah, has always been supportive and is a great eye and source of inspiration, and my voice of reason. I wouldn’t be doing Grand Prix work if not for my Pilates instructor, Cassandra Thompson, of Cassandra’s ABSolute Pilates. She helped me find my core and have the strength to hold it through the ride. Lastly, Benny Pfabe has been my daily coach and eyes on the ground and has made each day coming to the barn a joy. Thank you all so much! It takes a village!
